Keeping In Touch

ok so here it is...

the wedding turned a lot better than planned... it was well prayed over by our pastor... he even took a time for us to step aside and pray that money would come in, so we could at least afford a really nice night out if we couldn't do a true honeymoon right now... well, last night we took that night out... we went for a little shopping and then to red lobster... then we ended the night with a movie: night at the museum... it was a pretty good movie... we would have done more, but we had a little incident earlier yesterday... our dogs, yes we have two now (Riley and Lacy), managed to break two of the boards in our fence and went next door... our neighbor has two huge dogs... luckily for us, they were inside at the time... so tomorrow we have to fix that problem...
but anyways, back to the wedding... i will try and post as many pics as i can... most of the pics turned out pretty well, but i am still looking to see if others have some more... i have three wedding photo albums to fill out..lol
but i will have to better explain the day later... it is getting late and i need sleep... so night all and more info later

One of my favorite Christmas places in Ohio

More than 3.6 MILLION lights!
It's great to go there when it is cold outside, see the lights, then head inside for a cup of hot chocolate! Mmmmmmmmmmm

Moreton Island

We made it to Moreton Island yesterday with the Burns' family and had a wonderfully memorable time! Take a look at some pics! This place is awesome! And to think it is literally in our back yard! (ok, so a 1.5 hour car ride + 30 minute boat ride) It is accessible w/ your own boat or you can take a ferry over from Brisbane.

Our destination, finally within site!

The wrecks: an artificial reef deliberately constructed with old ships.

The beautiful view from the beach!
The view from atop Moreton Island.
Several of these Jelly fish were around the docks back on the mainland.

Sandy wishes for all of you!!

Seen while at the Brisbane River

We were lucky enough to see this creature (an Eastern Water Dragon) during the Christmas Party on Friday! The dogs flushed it out of the underbrush. I did not take this picture, but am using it from the internet. The owner of the dogs stopped them from having it as morning tea. It was gingerly placed back in a tree to go merrily about its day!

Flying Kangaroo as roadkill, *sobs

IF the Americans gain a stake in Qantas, the flying kangaroo's unique character is likely to become road kill.

Not because of financing plans which will see planes mortgaged, or because of expectations of further cost-cutting or restructuring.

An American stake in Qantas will stuff the Aussie icon because the in-flight experience in the nation that invented the aeroplane is about 20 years behind what we're used to. And they simply don't understand what Australian travellers expect.

Qantas's international economy, much as we love to grumble about it, is almost at business-class level in terms of US carriers, whose contribution to the modern in-flight experience has basically been to bolt wings and a tail on to a Greyhound bus (with a couple of extra toilets down the back).

In-flight entertainment is either very ordinary or works on a pay-per-view basis; the meals are spartan (if they exist); and in-flight service is basic at best. And don't try to order a Bundy and Coke.

Technically, while Qantas might still be majority Australian-owned even if a consortium headed by Macquarie Bank and US private equity group Texas Pacific succeeded in taking control, it would be a takeover that really would take the "Q" out of Qantas.

Texas Pacific, the aviation brains behind the buyout group, might know all about American travellers -- but we Aussies are a very different breed.

Just Landlubbers this time

We were prevented from having a day on the Burns' boat due to a faulty tire on the trailer. So we made lemonade out of lemons and IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!

This is a beautiful little cove along the walking path from the parking spot to Rainbow Beach. Too rocky along the water's edge to set up for the day, but this is beautiful!
Cool rock painting there on the cliff, huh?

This is Rainbow Beach near Coolangatta looking south.

This is looking north toward Surfer's Paradise.

This is the product of a lot of hard work by the kids. Notice the boogey board wave protection, the tunnel in the base of the drippy sand decorated mountain!

So, our day on the boat with the Burns' family will be rescheduled and we'll try another time.

Smile

While my mother is visiting family in the south, I called her and was able to "visit" with some of my extended family. This goes out to the rest of my family and friends that I've not been able to speak with.
