More details.....sort of

Janet asked a question that I thought would be better answered as a main posting. I bet some of you were wondering about the same details.

She asked if we have a place to stay yet in Brisbane. The answer is NOPE!! Do not despair, it is just that we plan on staying in a hotel for a few days (1-3). This will allow us to recover from the jet lag! Then we will locate a serviced apartment. These are basically fully furnished apartments that have some maid service (weekly usually). We'll probably stay in this for a month while we search for a community, schools, and a house to rent. Not sure which order those will be found, but.... I'd love it if there was an educational agent just like you can use a real estate agent, hmmmm....maybe this could be a million dollar idea?

I just heard today that the closing is on track for either the 30th or the 31st, then we'll be renters for the first time in 12 1/2 years!!

We will be scheduling the movers/packers for three different dates. The first will be for our "quick ship" (items we want shortly after our arrival). The next date will be for the items that we want placed in government storage. The last date will be for the items that we want shipped over to us.

Our actual flight schedule hasn't been determined yet. But Mark and I have been working on picking the flights that we'd like to be scheduled on. We'll see.....
I think Mark told me that the travel people don't issue the tickets until 5 days before your departure date. We are trying to plan a 7/24 departure from Dayton. I'm learning to be patient.

More later as I find out!

Thanks for signing up everyone! Hope to see some postings from you to keep us to date on your happenings too!

Hi there!

Just finished a really hectic week (is there any other kind in May?) I told Emily early in the week that I had to keep checking to see what day of the week it was, I just couldn't remember! If it wasn't for my PDA and Palmdesk top program, I'd never get to anything.

I posted a picture of the 2006 Hagenmaier Easter Egg Hunters! What cuties they all are!

THREE THINGS

What Three Things would you tell someone who is moving to Australia to live with her family?
What Three pieces of advice or tips would you give?

Welcome to life Down Under mate

Well Lori, not long to go now, your world is about to be turned upside down (no pun intended, but accepted) *grins.

We have tidied the place up for your arrival, oh, and can you bring some rain when you come please. Ta, that would be great!

Practise saying "g'day" (not good day) more like....gidday, and throw in a mate or two for good measure.

"Giddya mate!"

That will take you many places.

Safe journey, and see you in Oz.

hugs

So when are we leaving.....

......well, at this point it should be on or around July 24th. I'll post our information here as soon as we know it is official. Which I think Mark told me that the travel office will issue the tickets 5 days before departure.

We have a contract on the house!! We will consider it sold when we are done with the last signature at the closing and not a nanosecond before! The inspection is scheduled for 5/15, cross your fingers that nothing is out of whack.

More later...

Start posting!!!!!
